As the result of activities in the year of 2004 Tolmachevo airport surpassed the following airports and aviation enterprises: “Pulkovo” (St. Petersburg), "Koltsovo" (Ekaterinburg), "Borispol" (Kiev, Ukraine), "Tashkent" (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), "Kurumoch" (Samara) and "Emelianovo" (Krasnoyarsk) in the category "Over 1 million handled passengers a year".

The win in this competition proves the appropriateness of the chosen development concept. Tolmachevo airport has been carrying out the reconstruction and modernisation for the last year and a half and turning to the new management system. Creating a multimodal transport hub on the air routes from Europe to Asia is the nearest perspective for Tolmachevo airport.

P.S.: Under the category "Over 1 million handled passengers a year" Tolmachevo airport was recognized the best; "Koltsovo", "Tashkent" and "Borispol" were determined as intensively developing. Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg and Samara airports were awarded with a prize for the great contribution to the technical development.
